The Fliteboard is a world-leading electric surfboard that glides across the water on a hydrofoil wing. The project is a technical feat of engineering and Fliteboard, in partnership with Tekt Industries, are pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Tekt Industries created unique electronic control systems and wireless interfaces which utilise the latest technology and allow the user to have a peerless experience on the water. The custom Bluetooth hardware and firmware facilitate a completely new mode of use for the traditionally harsh environments of marine communications necessary to make Fliteboard control seamlessly transition to mobile app setup and back again.
Sports Performance Technology and Tekt Industries worked together to create the SPT2 sports tracking system, a wearable device that provides unprecedented access to game-changing metrics for emerging athletes and a wide range of team sports. Players and coaches can instantly access stats like distance run, number of sprints, max acceleration, length of time on the field, and the number of impacts a player has had. The systems custom Bluetooth implementation and patented hardware design were developed to deliver best-in-class performance in the harsh, high-impact environment of a live competitive football match just as easily as it would a training run. This tech was optimised for life on the field.
The Fusion Guitar is the world’s first electric guitar with iPhone integration, including a built-in high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack, high-efficiency stereo amplifier, and HD quality speakers to deliver an outstanding performance for the casual performer and Rockstar alike. Players will now have extraordinary creative control over their sound, including effects, amp modelling, looping capabilities and the ability to record instantly onto their phones with a highly integrated system designed to be taken on the road. Now the bulky amplifiers and effects pedals are optional with this fantastic evolution of an age-old instrument.
The Telstra IoT Development board was created for Telstra by Tekt Industries to enable rapid enterprise deployment of custom, high-quality IoT applications that required stable low-power cellular connectivity alongside application specific sensing and control integration. The system utilises a Quectel BG96 module, powered by a Qualcomm chipset, and uniquely integrates a dedicated communications accelerator which handles encryption, LWM2M services, payload transmission, and security. The development kit was designed to showcase the very latest in communications technology, enabling low-power M2M communications with Telstra’s advanced CAT-M1 and NB-IoT networks.
The Log4.PoE is a specialised logging device which accurately displays readings of voltage, current, and power while also simultaneously logging all measurement data to a MicroSD card and streaming the measurements to dedicated PC software. Tekt Industries designed this sophisticated measurement tool to specifically measure Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) power delivery between connected equipment with high accuracy. The unique battery powered monitoring solution is the only logging tool of its kind in the world, assisting engineers and technicians worldwide with the challenge of quantifying how power is delivered within modern communication systems.
The Merlon Handset V5 was designed by Tekt Industries as a best in class medical handset for use alongside every hospital bed and integrated into an advanced nurse-call patient care system which is installed in modern hospitals. With integrated microcontroller hardware and firmware developed to control audio, lighting, RFID scanner, and provide messaging services, this design represents a major evolution in nursecall handset design.
The TAP-109 Charging Bay system provides rapid charging for a fleet of iPods in any commercial setting where mass charging is imperative. The charging system also integrates a 27-port USB hub, well beyond the size of most normal hub architectures, to assist with software updates and large-scale application deployment to the devices while connected to a host PC. One unique feature Tekt Industries developed is the distributed power supply system that allows for efficient, low-temperature, fan-less operation while delivering full power to each of the devices on charge. This compact power delivery and mass-communications solution has stood the test of time.
The Adabisc Reader was created by Tekt Industries as more than just an RFID reader. This system includes advanced API control interfaces and WiFi communication systems to assist with rich, dynamic audio and visual feedback, within a vast theme park. The core compute module was integrated with custom hardware and firmware to extend the functionality beyond a simple RFID reader application so that each user could have a unique experience tailored to their ID and a range of other characteristic all commanded from a central server system. No RFID node has ever had the level of customisability present in this unique product implementation.
The Matrixx LED Engine was created out of a need for a custom high-reliability lighting solution for high-bay installation within warehouses and factories. Tekt Industries created unique PCB designs that achieved the outcome our client sought, and this technology has positioned them as a pioneer in the market of efficient high-power LED lighting. A partnership with CREE for the LED elements and the know-how to make aluminium boards made this product development project a resounding success for the client.
Bluetooth location services are nothing new but Tekt Industries was possibly the first to create such a service, well before Apple locate and the host of other services now available. The AP Locate beacon was created for cultural spaces to allow for a new visitor experience within museums and art galleries. The custom hardware and firmware delivered best-in-class location services to iOS applications and allowed for our client to become a world-leader in this space.
The Hilton Traffic Signage system was created out of a need for digital signage that integrated all of the features of an unconnected conventional roadside speed sign with advanced cloud connected control and content management solutions of today. Tekt Industries created multiple custom FPGA control systems for the integration of low-cost RGB LED panels with a central communications gateway designed to manage every aspect of the signage trailers operation. The hardware, firmware, and software we developed was a one of the earliest examples of connected devices now classified as IoT hardware. Tekt Industries has watched M2M evolve into IoT and effectively helped push this convergence of technology into todays sophisticated products.
The NANO IR Sensor was a great opportunity to work with a client to make an existing solution better. We re-engineered all aspects of the hardware from plastics through to LED drive systems and sensor processing to make a new sensor array for interference-based presence sensing at high speed within several key industrial applications. Tekt Industries doesn’t just integrate a wide range of existing sensors on the market, we create new and improved sensing solutions which meed the demands of harsh environments and many industrial use-cases.
The AWS Lanyard was created in conjunction with Amazon Web Services and Accumulatos to enable rapid development of IoT applications using Mongoose OS and Amazon RTOS. The tiny hexagonal development platform supports WiFi connected sensor and control messaging along with many other edge data collection applications. One of the more amazing feats of design was the fact that Tekt Industries created this hardware in 8 weeks to meet a tight deadline for delivery to Re:Invent attendees in 2017. AWS asked and we delivered the best little IoT development board for the job.
The Zoo Feeder project was an amazing opportunity for Tekt Industries to give back to Melbourne Zoo and provide an electro-mechanical hardware design which gamified the act of feeding carnivores such as snow leopards and lions. The system creates a WiFi network between a master feeding station and sensor nodes that can provide audio queues for feeding challenges while also providing an animal-safe electro-mechanical dispensing method which is hermetically sealed until triggered. All systems are controllable from a webserver-based tablet application. Tekt Industries rose to the challenge and created one of the most complex animal feeding systems on the planet.
